Metasequoia

Metasequoia glyptostroboides, the dawn redwood, is a fast-growing, critically endangered deciduous tree, sole living species of the genus Metasequoia, and one of three species of conifers known as redwoods. It is native to the Sichuan-Hubei region of China. Although shortest of the redwoods, it grows to at least 200 ft (61 m) in height

This Wood i got today should be a Metasequoia glyptostroboides,

Thuja occidentalis is an evergreen coniferous tree, in the cypress family Cupressaceae, which is native to the North east of the United States and the South east of Canada, but widely cultivated as an ornamental plant.

This pieces of wood came closed to Brescia, grow around 700 m.s.l. in the Pre-Alps Reason.
It has spectaclar contrast between sapwood and heartwood .
This pieces are arond 20 cm large for 18 and 12 cm high,
This wood have to look careflly before pt on the lathe,
i found often a crack pieces going inside really into it,
which easoly could explode while trning,
