what's hidden inside wood

Cupressus Arizonica again...

both works are made turning in three different axes...

First one: Madonna with child

It's 48 cm tall x 28 wide for 5 cm thick

In the second work i tried to develop a Human face,
focusing on those two nodes, that seemed to me a perfect couple of eyes..
mouth, cheekbones, skull....were parts i try to recreat by truning in three different axes...
i call it Adam, the first face of many.
i enjoy a lot...

Ain't that something????

Cheers
Paolo

Feel free to ask any questions...
i haven't say that much about how i have done...
i try to have a good sequence pictures of all the work next...

Boxelder burl

I told some  post ago "woodturning garden" where i found this Boxelder burl...
It's really an amazing wood, there is some blue some orange/pale red and a spalted red core...
i finish it with mix of beswax and some stuff used to polish the bufalo horn.
hope these colors will be more defined with some light oxidation..
Next Boxelder burl i think it will get some mineral oil (don't want white takin' yellow)before buffed with wax.

It's 28 cm diameter and 21 tall...
was a big burl for what i used to work...
i enjoy really a lot turning this burl,
spend an hour to sand by hand,
till 400....

i played with picasa, a free kind of photoshop to adjust the picture...
a lot of contrast to show more clean the 3D pattern....

Much tired
 Cheers
Paolo

Roberto Cecconello

It's hard to find in this modern time someone who enjoy so much sharing his own passion, helping so many people take first steps in woodturning world as well and whispering good advices to anyone...
i can definetly say Roberto help me a lot since i started turn woods, with his advices, points of view and criticism...

He showed this multiaxis bowl made with Pear in a italian woodturning forum,
like always he told every step of his process, and answering all the questions that were posed.
At first glance i liked really a lot..
it was like kind a far beyond the borders of traditional turning..
i know there are some other turner who doin' unbelievable stuff above all in france,
but maybe the fact that i know already Roberto, who seem to me that the man who did it wasn't a martian...
however...in the forum
he called me to share a piece, and i totally agreed...
i call myself in this forum "ilvisionario"....
(it's an alias good friend of mine nik to me becouse i used had an hour night walk under the tree-lined boulevard that surrounds the village where I live....i didn't give a shit to anything...just looking up and around with some good music...in fact in town some started to call me "ilvisionario"...)
by the way,
i got "sghembo" the name that Roberto gave to the piece he made:
and it's AVANGUARDIA!!!
Come direbbe Freak Antoni: Non capite un cazzo, questa è avanguardia pubblico di merda!

Roberto Cecconello have a web site: http://www.artetornio.info/
