Enjoy Box Elder

Well, i see a lot of turning on line,
and sometimes i like to try to do by myself,
this is the case:

and some detail of this amazing Wood..

Then i enjoy with imagination and feeling,

and this one,
which i feel i could do something much better with this particular wood...

the Box suspended is about 30 cm high, 20 cm diameter of the box..
i used laburnum (maggiociondolo) for the finial and the base(i dont' know how to call it)
i heard it could be better the top,
quite right,
vein should run same body and top,
and finial is too short...
keep care all the advice,
i wold do one more shortly, becoiuse i enjoy do this box, and it's quite intresting on the view..
but sure i have to do much more before catch the right one...

Place for my workpiece

i found a place where show the piece i made on lathe,

People around here don't give so much about wood,
Nothing here to let all them knowing as well,
so i push a place near my home to take my work,
i mean they feel good about my stuff in their place,
They like a lot some of the  lately pieces,
i need to show woodturning to people as much as possible,
starting from the ground,
work, work and go lookin for place that let me show...

i love woodturning,

Bubinga centerpiece

i made this disc one years ago,
wait a lot to turn it, and may be i could wait some more,
however i take a little more confidence about this big piece,

At the End it's 80 cm diameter, and 5 cm tall,
Was around 50 kg of weight,

in the start i thought i need adult diapers,
but along the work the gouge start to drow much easy...

i understood that you can't make a mistake in such a tickness,
if you do you probably have to change the design of the piece as well....
and that's what happened here...

but at the end, i'm very excite about it,
the Curupay on the side, seemed bubinga sapwood,
i left in the middle a small box,
which can be used to fix on wall,
and hide the fixing things...
(my english...)

this piece got really my back,
finish with Oil and Wax,
few oil, becouse bubinga got really dark with oil,
in fact i used just a single hand of mineral oil...

Tomorrow morning i will do some base to pull all up a little bit,
just to let look the profile..

                                                                        Botton Side

New Things

First Time i carving a Woodturning piece,
for this attempt i used a small proxon and This kind of conical rasp:

All The Time,

Here The Walnut Hollow,

Box Elder - Acero Negundo

Acer negundo is a species of maple native to North America.

Acer negundo is a small, usually fast-growing and fairly short-lived tree that grows up to 10–25 metres (33–82 ft) tall, with a trunk diameter of 30–50 centimetres (12–20 in), rarely up to 1 metre (3.3 ft) diameter. It often has several trunks and can form impenetrable thickets...

i'd like to show A couple of work in Box Elder..

First one is old,i done it a couple of yers ago.  Oil and Wax Finish
the Second is just been made..with only couple of Wax coats..

Now i Think IS better The Oil/Wax solution becouse it take out the colour and give much definition of the detail..
By using just Wax everything melting in white, really good White, but in all this whitness eyes don't get easyy the vein details..

it's different...
Kind of step back mine,

now i know what finish do next Elder..

                                                                        i love this one
                                                                 there's a World here
                                                          a Watching Woman came out

Sold yesterday for 30 euro and a couple of slices of logs of Lebanon cedar,
some hawthorn, and a nice piece of Oak..
i can Feed tank, and have a Week of free material to work...
But still no job found, still unemployed...
Hard time never stopped..
