Robinia pseudoacacia, also known in its native territory as black locust, is a tree of the genus Robinia in the subfamily Faboideae of the pea family Fabaceae. It is native to the southeastern United States, but has been widely planted and naturalized elsewhere in temperate North America, Europe, Southern Africa[1] and Asia and is considered an invasive species in some areas.
The wood comes from Italian region called Liguria, grew up in very narrow valleys in big competition with others native plants, in fact, this particular wood came from a plant that has slower growth compared to black locust grows here on the plains.
Also the color of the wood is different from the same plant that grows here in the plain, tends far more to green than the classic yellow or Sun's oxidizes orange/brown...
Beautiful Wood.
Bowls are around 6 1/2 inches....from 15 to 18 cm diameter...
Cheers
Paolo
